“We live across the street (Steamboat) from DaMonte Ranch Park in the Regency/Presidio neighborhood. We walk the path around the wetlands/meadows frequently.
Please add our names to the petition to STOP the building of the proposed dog park in that lovely neighborhood park!
Thank you very much!”

“Hello I am a resident who lives across from the Damonte Ranch Park, I am upset to learn about this dog park project. I think it’s important to protect open spaces like this one, and can not find a positive in building a dog park here.
If there is an issue with patrons of the park letting dogs off leash in these areas I don’t believe a dog park is the solution. Dog parks have also been proven to not be a healthy or positive place for most dogs. And as many residence have pointed out there is a park no more than a mile down the road at Cyan should residence want to take their dogs to a dog park. (Also Hidden Valley Dog park is maybe 10 min away) I think enforcing leashing vs having a dog park in a beautiful open area around many homes that would also now have to endure the noise and smells that come along with having a dog park that close would make more sense. The fact that there is a 3 mile loop where people can also walk their dogs is also a reason a dog park is not needed. (There is plenty of ways to exercise your animal than this parks open area)
There are better solutions to “off leash” animals and people riding bikes than making a dog park.
Also there’s dog parks within most of the apartment complexes in the area too… so there is plenty of roaming places for dogs. This project should be stopped.
Thank you for your time,”

“The green space at the park needs to be kept as is, do not put the dog park here as we have a pathway connected perfect for dog walking, there is no need for a fenced dog park, children play and they need the open space, our dogs are fine…we have plenty of dog space in our area
All the Best,”

Seriously, tell us what we can do to help on this item. We are aware, this City is a bit awkward and does not want advice. Again, please let us help.

“We are asking that the dog park at Damonte Ranch be relocated to a more suitable location within the community. The current location creates concerns for nearby residents, including noise, barking, traffic, parking, and the overall impact on surrounding homes and families.
A dog park is an important amenity for the community, but it should be placed in an area that provides enough space, appropriate parking, and adequate separation from nearby residences. Relocating the dog park would allow residents and their pets to continue enjoying this resource while reducing the impact on neighboring homes.
We believe a carefully selected location could provide a safer, quieter, and more convenient environment for both dog owners and the surrounding community. We respectfully ask that the current location be reconsidered and that alternative locations be evaluated with input from residents.”

“No dog park.”

“Why were the Damonte residents informed of this dog park in advance? Will our fees go up to pay for the fence? Extra mowing the section? Paying to pick up dog feces? Paying for fencing? Sound abatement for dog barking, etc? Will non-dog owners not be charged?
When & where were these decisions made?”

“This dog park takes up the entire perimeter adjacent to my property. This is a lot premium property. When I purchased this property I knew there would be a park but nobody knew anything about a "dog park" and if I had I known, I would have never paid a premium to look at a dog park literally steps (30 feet) from my backyard. Genuinely, who would buy a house 30 feet from a dog park? What happened to quiet enjoyment of YOUR OWN HOME. This is absolutely unacceptable.
Ms. Anderson said, "this is a great opportunity to put a dog park." Let's be real, would she think it was a good idea if it was her back yard? I would like to add, I have 3 dogs and I DO NOT in any way support this park. There is a dog park literally up the road...why are we making so many accommodations for dogs?
Tax money is being used to RUIN quality of life for home owners who paid a lot of money to live where they live....to enjoy beautiful views of the mountains and wetlands, NOT to watch dogs bark and tear up grass, leave dog waste and bring flies. Terrible idea. This is very concerning for home values, especially lot premium homes to which this said "dog park" backs up to directly.
In addition, this "dog park" is just feet away from the children's play structure. This is a disproportionate size to this park. This park cannot accommodate a "dog park" of this size. Whose idea was this, and why didn't I receive a notice of this proposed idea? When was the public hearing? Sounds like it was voted on prior to a public meeting. If so, this cannot proceed. This park makes zero sense.
Will definitely be speaking to the city and consulting an attorney regarding the lack of policy and procedure.”

“Dear HOA Board,
I have been living in Damonte Ranch for over 15 years. I am writing to express my concern and disappointment regarding the recent changes and installations in our community park.
The new fenced dog area takes away valuable open space while providing a small, mostly grass area with little or no shade. It does not seem to meet the needs of either dogs or their owners. Residents have been much better served by the existing open space, where people can walk their dogs and enjoy the park naturally.
I am also concerned about the new disc golf installations in an area where people regularly walk and children play. Flying discs create an unnecessary safety concern and seem inconsistent with how this space has traditionally been used.
Rather than spending our HOA funds on artificial installations, new benches, and fenced areas that many residents may not use, I would much rather see investment in maintaining and improving the natural environment—planting more mature and native trees, adding native plants and shrubs, improving the grass and landscaping, and providing more shade.
We should be creating a pleasant, natural, and useful park for the residents who live here, not filling it with unnecessary structures. I respectfully ask the HOA to reconsider these changes and prioritize the long-term quality, safety, and natural beauty of our community open space.
Thank you for considering the concerns of the residents.
Sincerely,”

“I would like to comment on the addition of a dog park at the Damonte Ranch Park. I use the walking trail several times a week, and the parking lot issue needs to be addressed and corrected before money is spent on a dog park. The parking lot is not striped correctly, and it is confusing as to the boundary of each space. I believe that issue needs attention first since it is sometimes difficult to find a space and using a competent vendor for restriping would be very welcomed. Maybe the parking lot could be extended east. If a dog park is added, people using the park may resort to street parking in the residential area which is also limited in the available curb space that is suitable to park a vehicle. Dogs that come to Damonte Ranch Park have plenty of space to play fetch and run around on the grassy areas. Children run up and down the hill and ride bikes there. Taking away open play space does not seem to be within the purposes of a community park. Perhaps a better use of thousands of dollars would be to create a bike path around the marsh so that walkers or runners are not being displaced by scooters and bikes.
I agree that Cyan Park has a wonderful dog park and the adjacent parking lot has a sufficient amount of parking spaces to accommodate visitors. Please, reconsider this major addition to Damonte Ranch Park.”

“Hi there, I understand it’s too late and the dog park has been approved which I think I would’ve approved having a dog park there but I think it’s insane and irresponsible to put the dog part right next to the children’s part and hope that there won’t be some negative interaction between the two at some point. Unfortunately, I wasn’t involved in the process so I would love for someone to reconsider public safety first, and at least put the dog part on the far side of the park not right next to the children’s play area.
I’ve seen the devastation of a dog versus child and would hate to see something like that happen in our community. Thank you so much for your consideration.”

“Thanking you for making me aware of this. I am in agreement that we need to preserve open space, especially when there are other dog parks nearby. It is very sad that these types of initiatives do not go up for a vote from the nearby residents.
I appreciate your efforts. Please let me know if there is any additional steps I need to take to sign the petition.
Best,”

“Good morning,
I’d like to vote to relocate the dog park at damonte ranch park.
If it’s to go where the temporary fence is up now, I think it should be moved to the open space on the south west side. Only if a dog park can’t be avoided.
Respectfully,”
